Giving up for 2010

Each year, I give up some material thing. The logic is that I should give up something I'm dependent on. It's like going cold turkey on an addiction. It's also to find cost cutting opportunities.

So, here's the list again:
  • 2006 Magazines (I ended up buying them, but not having time to read them)
  • 2007 Ice cream (I had an addiction, going as far as 7 scoops at a time and then crashing)
  • 2008 Liquor (Part of Kabul habit I had to shed)
  • 2009 Chocolate (the hardest habit to kick)

Now, all of the ventures were more or less successful. Some might quibble that I still inhale chocolate when I get my paws on them. However, I consciously stay away from chocolates. I asked people not to give me chocs as a gift, and they mostly complied.

I was discussing this with Farhana last night, and said, I have no idea what to give up for next year. Here are the potential candidates:
  • Restaurant food
  • Travel
  • Coffee
We were laughing that my costs would be under control if I boycotted just four restaurants. So maybe that's one option.

Hmm, hmm, hmm, mmm.
