OK, that title is not as catchy as Snakes on a Plane, but I had to write something, right?
The other day, while walking around Gulshan, I decided to walk through the new-ish bridge connecting Gulshan and Banani 11. Just before stepping into the bridge, I notice two metal zebras "standing" beside the bridge, in the grass.
They must be the ugliest zebras I've seen in a while. These would be zebras coughed up by Tim Burton, bred with the second cousin of Jason Voorhees, and then stomped on by Guillermo Del Toro and you get the idea.
Naturally, this reminded me that Dhaka is not the city of tasteful public art. We have our dowels (doves crossed with whales, as one of my friends said), we have our metal peacocks, there's a tiger somewhere too near the pan pacific. The hideous of all would be the dolphins/swordfish combo that grace airport road.
Taste is subjective, for sure.
