I got a nice nugget of wisdom from Pat, who used to be part of our project, but now is involved in another project at Save. After a particularly challenging day last august, I asked her next morning how she was doing. Her reply was this: "You know, everything is better after a good night's sleep".I appreciated the value of this advice in past two days. The work stress was getting to me. I got to the office at 7.00am on both days, and we had to finish a lot of meetings, and reach key decisions for our project to move forward. So two nights ago, I got home at 7.30pm after class, and went to bed. My friends Fuad & Lucky called me at 10pm to tell that they sent someone to my house, and the guy rang our bell (no pun intended) for about half hour, and couldn't wake me up. I simply crashed.
Same thing yesterday night. Maswood and Lima dropped me home at 9pm. I turned on My Name is Earl, and crashed. Woke up at 3am, turned off TV, went to bed again, and finally woke up at 10am. Someone tried to reach me on my phone, and I slept through it all. But at least, I woke up refreshed and ready to tackle the world again.
One of the great things about this week - the beli flowers were in full bloom (the photo courtesy of Jaffor Ullah's blog) when I went running in the Ramna park two days ago. It usually happens right before the rainy season. So it was a nice surprise. And like a bangla expression "gondar-er chamra" (a rhino's skin- apparently if you tickle a rhino, it laughs after three days), it took me two days to react to this. I woke up with a smile in my face.
The major achievements of March 2007: Met my weight loss goal. Met my budget/savings target. Met my sleeping target more or less. Met my exercise target.
This months target: Catch up on studying. I'm really behind. And it's showing.
