Roger Ebert just posted an elegant love letter to his wife, Chaz, on this blog post titled, All the Lonely People. If you read something today, you must read this.
I found the concluding line to be the best,
"Perhaps I wasn't lonely before because I didn't have it, so it couldn't be gone."
I wouldn't call myself a loner. I like being alone sometimes. There are some experiences that I do not wish to share with anyone. Like the first time watching a good movie, listening to a good music, eating a pizza from which all the toppings are dripping off, the perfect sunset.
Ebert says another thing that I liked, "Someone once said the fundamental reason we get married is because have a universal human need for a witness."
I would argue that you need some experiences by yourself, because the another person may just get in the way.
