Compliance, coercion, course correction

For my work, I'm doing an online course on compliance on a health issue. It's a donor requirement, and although somewhat draconian, I'm enjoying learning about it.

It's been hard to get out of vacation mode, Indonesia was such a great place, it's harder to adjust to Dhaka life again.

One nugget of wisdom I had to re-learn on this trip: We really live in a cocoon. We go through life with a set of beliefs and assumptions, and expect that everyone is following the same doctrine. Again and again, I found different things that work for other people.

Finally, a shout out to Tarsi (sp?), customer service person for Batavia Air in Ende, Flores. This is the most efficient person I've met in last 5-6 years. I am amazed that such a helpful and knowledgeable person exists, and I hope that he gets promoted soon.
