As the Bangla New Year kicks in day after tomorrow, I'm ready to make my resolutions. Let me create the list, and then explain.
1. The first one is already declared and much-maligned on FB: 600 mile walk and 7,000 pushups in 365 days
2. No TV (including movie channels)
3. Read one new book per week
Let me assplain.
1. Assuming that you walk 2 miles everyday and do 20 pushups, the target is not a lot. It just demands consistency. It's unfortunate that my fitness has come down to that level, but borrowing a quote from JC, it's progress, not perfection that I'm after.
2. Here I mean the physical box. That includes DVDs, movie channels, etc. Watching movies on my laptop does not count. Watching TV shows do, so I'll stop that. Youtube is out too.
3. I tried this in Kabul, and read up a bunch of the classics. I keep adding books to my Kindle, and then ignore them (in last six months, I've finished 25% of Xerxes, and I love that book, but can't make time). So once a week, while ambitious, will stay.
I think I failed miserably in last year's targets, so better forget them.
