532. Falling Slowly

I copied the song, Falling Slowly, from the movie, Once, couple of months ago from someone else's computer. It's been the most played song on my iTunes (apart from Madonna's American Pie, Habib's Maya, and Dixie Chick's Not Ready to Make Nice).

There's something about the song that's haunting and beautiful and melancholy and sweet and optimistic and nostalgic - makes you long for a day when you didn't have the weight of the world on your shoulders, and you could enjoy a song for what it is, and spend hours pontificating on the merits of the song.

I was reading the back story of the artists, Irish vocalist Glen Hansard, and Czech pianist Marketa Irglova, who won the Best song at this year's Oscars for this song. They have been performing together for a year or so before making the movie, but they fall in love and begin dating during the filming of the movie. I think the song perfectly captures this sweet romance that's blossoming between them.

Let's hope the subsequent songs remain as innocent and full of hope.
