I subscribe to a daily word list called Vocab Vitamins (You don't achieve 93th percentile on you GRE Verbals without effort, my dear), and most of the time I know the words, or can guess at the meaning of the Word of the Day just by looking at the subject heading.
Not last week. Here are the words I got last week in their weekly theme titled: Indulged furkid.
1. Cosset (to pamper)
2. Pelage (a coat of hair, woold or fur covering the body of an animal)
3. Mollycoddle (to treat with extreme indulgence)
4. Porcine (relating to or suggesting swine; 'a bald porcine old man' (Vladimir Nabokov))
5. Anthropomorphic (suggesting human characteristics for animals or inanimate things)
Well, I kinda knew what anthropomorphic means, so it's not all new, but, man, the words blew me away!
I highly recommend the site, it's been keeping me highly amused and slightly better educated for over a year now.
And that's not me mollycoddling at all.
