Mare Tranquillitatis, or Sea of Tranquility, according to Wikipedia, is, "a lunar mare that sits within the Tranquillitatis basin on Earth's moon. The mare material within the basin consists of basalt in the intermediate to young age group of the Upper Imbrian epoch. The surrounding mountains are thought to be of the Lower Imbrian epoch, but the actual basin is probably Pre-Nectarian." Please tell me if you understood any of that. I didn't.
But to make it simple, Sea of Tranquility is where the Ranger 8 unmanned spacecraft crash landed in 1965, and also where Neil Armstrong first stepped down from Apollo 11. Wikipedia also goes on to say, "This Mare has a slight bluish tint relative to the rest of the moon and stands out quite well when color is processed and extracted from multiple photographs. The color is likely due to higher metal content in the basaltic soil or rocks".
I've had an emotionally tumultous week, my mood swaying between passion, jealousy, disappointment, rage, depression, convulsion, and finally contentment, resolve and gratitude. It felt like unmanned spacecrafts crash landed and perturbed my relatively uneventful existence. Then came the men, Armstrong and Aldrin, and explored every dark corner of my skin in the name of scientific exploration.
On the surface, because of many other commitments, I had to keep up a sea of tranquility, a state of calm with a bluish tint. I feel myself hanging precariously on a balance, walking a tightrope. On one side, a barren, peaceful cold stretch of land, nothing as far as the eyes can see. On the other side, a relatively unformed volatile gaseous entity, which can morph into any size, shape or form and have the potential to become a galaxy, a nebula or a mere comet.
Ya never know what you're dealt until things cool down, I guess.
P.S. I found this site called Lunar Registry, which sells property on the Sea of Tranquility for a bargain price of $37.50/acre.
"Your property ownership package includes a beautifully engraved parchment deed, a satellite photograph of the property and an information sheet detailing the geography of your region."
