Fun fact of the day

Learn something new everyday. Case in point from a meeting I attended:

Family planning department in Afghanistan gives out free monthly condom supplies to married couples through their village health posts. So a one month's supply for a couple includes 12-14 condoms, one estimate went as high as 21 (later lowered from national MIS data).

The reaction around the room was like this: Is that all? No wonder we aren't making enough progress in lowering fertility rate.

My reaction was: What are they, horses? When does anyone find the time to raise an insurgency, hide the terrorists, and fend off the soviets if they need 12-14 a month?

Boy did I grow up in the wrong country!
