Darul Aman Palace (abode of peace) was built in 1920s for King Aman Ullah Khan, he chose this hill at the south of Kabul that oversees the city.
It was burned down and reconstructed several times, but in 1990s, during the Mujahideen war, it was completely destroyed by rockets and mines, and now stands an observation post for the alliance force.
The architecture, a mix of Greek, Moorish and Islamic styles is very beautiful, but it's unlikely that it will be reconstructed in the near future.
