Remembering Ahir

I always associate September 11 with a personal loss and tragedy. My colleague at ETV, Ahir Alam, died in a car accident, four hours before the Twin Tower collapse.

I remember the exact moment, I was reading this Eid comedy script by Dr. Zafar Iqbal, which Ahir was going to produce. Mochu Masud and Jobair Babu bhai were sitting in my office room, and then Ehsan Babu bhai called and gave me the news. I think time stood still, while I was trying to come up for air. I remember going home at 1am, and then turning on the TV, and watching the building collapse, and not really registering anything.

Ahir was a good producer, and a good friend, and later I found out that he was a distant uncle of mine. It's been six years, and I think the pain is gone, and life has moved on.

What remains are the good memories, and the lesson that life is short, and we should try to make something out of our sojourn here.

Life not experienced, is a life wasted.
