301. Fans, fanatics, fashionable men

My colleague La Rue sent me a pic from our Sylhet trip in June, I think I look dashing in the picture, don't you? I think I'll have to carry around files from now on to hide my ponch.

I just experienced three things that I didn't think I would enjoy, but each of them affected me enough to be mentioned.

  1. India-Pakistan World Cup Cricket: I went to say goodbye to Nabila, who happened to be watching the 20-20 World Series last night. India won by 5 runs, when Misbah was caught out with five balls left in the innings. I don't watch cricket in general, but this kept me on the edge of my seat. One different move, and Pakistan would've won on the same ball as Misbah hit a sixer. Nabila was fan of india, so she was justifiably happy

  2. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: I got home to catch a full CNN coverage of the Iranian President's speech at Columbia University. I didn't watch the whole thing, but the first thing that crossed my mind was: Whoa, the man can dress! He was dressed in simple formal clothing, but he had this electrifying presence, so whatever he was saying was very convincing. I'll have to read up on what he said. If only the moderate-minded people had half the charisma as this man, the world would've been a very different place.
  3. Britney and Madonna: I heard American Pie before, but never paid attention to it. Last month, I was having dinner with Brendan at the Bagha club, and some guy was playing his guitar and singing the song, and in that candle-lit atmosphere, I fell in love with the song. I downloaded the song in my iPod, and must've played it about 60-70 times on my way home from office. I recently downloaded the new Britney Spears song Gimme More, after listening to Bob and Sheri talking about it for one hour, and now I'm waking up to it everyday (it's my alarm tone).

I'm also regressing to 80's mode. The most played song on my iPod this week: Electric Blue by Icehouse. I guess old habits die hard.
