Like Ally McBeal and Oprah and thousand other new-agie people, I generally subscribe to the theme song idea. Basically a song which represents me - my state of mind, my ambitions, my worries. It's not the song that's important (could be some very cheesy ones), it's the thought behind the song, sometimes the title, or some keyword which usually amuse me when I look back.
So, leaving aside our song candidates for now, let's look at the ones I've been immersing myself in during the past few months
1. Justin Timberlake ft. Akon - What Goes Around, it's been my ring tone ever since I bought the new phone. I finally changed the ring tone yesterday because I was hallucinating the song everytime I was expecting a call. It's a good theme song, because it's fun, catchy, although the lyrics are probably the least of my favorite.
2. Madonna - Isaac. Dec 2006 - Jan 2007. I was in my rediscovering my self mode, and wanted to listen to something that sounds vaguely religious. I eventually decided that the contemplative stage was over, and I've learned everything that I needed to know at that point.
3. Shakira - Hips don't lie. Aug-Oct 2006. This was my mood late last year. I was feeling carefree, and needed to remind myself that I need to think less and go with the flow.
So basically, I went from miss-thang phase to pseudo-contemplative phase to post-nostalgic phase. And now I'm in another phase. The theme song is, drum roll please, Silent Lucidity by Queensryche. It's a perennial favorite of mine, but right now the lyrics are particularly suiting.
Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over... or has it just begun?
