I'm having a good Karma week. Last weekend, I met up with a lot of people who I haven't seen lately. Anna S. was in North Carolina, Nehal was at Leeds, and others were either traveling or out of the country. It's been great to catch up.Anna reminded me of a time when life was full of promises. I met her for the first time in a boat in Sundarbans. She manages to crack me up every time without fail, whether it's her dislike of facial hair, or good gossip about someone I don't know leaving someone else who also I don't know. And I can't believe that Siobhan (with the accent on a) is leaving. Her blog keeps me mesmerized.
So, the good karma week. I have many to be thankful for. I got a free air conditioned taxi ride to work from a generous stranger one sweaty morning (he didn't want to take money from a student, even though I make way more than him). I got offered two job leads from people I worked with before, positions I didn't even know existed. I simply mentioned to a friend over lunch that I need to learn Khmer if i were to be considered for a position, and he found someone in the restaurant who is fluent in Khmer. Annabelle and one of her friends generously dropped me off during a freak rainshower. Count together all the generous gestures, and I must've done something good.
It's a magical time when the stars align, and every day gives you something new to be thankful for.
