I definitely have some angels looking out for me.About a year ago, I told my ex-colleague Kona apa that I loved reading Amphibian Man by Alexander Belyaev when I was growing up, but I lost my copy. And the back story always fascinated me. Alexander Belyaev fell from a tree and broke his back when he was, I think, 11, and he spent his lifetime lying in bed, paralyzed, writing novels. He died of hunger in Nazi era.
Last night, I was handed a copy of the book, free! Kona apa had bought several copies for her children and nephew/nieces, and just happened to have an extra copy at home.
I can't begin to express the ride back home, not being able to wait to recreate my childhood magic. One of my dreams is to visit Tierra del Fuego, and I'd spend days imagining what it would be like to be there "at the end of the world".
And now I can go there again.
