There's so far been only three comments on my blog. The first one wished Dean Happy Birthday from someone I don't know.
The second was from Farhana, and I love her for being the first friend to encourage me publicly for my blog.
The third one was from some anonymous well-wisher (?) who wanted me to write about my weight loss secret.
So, dear anonymous reader, there are only two secrets to my weight loss (Yes, I did lose 7 lbs in past two weeks, only 8 more to go before my April 1 deadline).
And they are...
1. Diet
2. Exercise
I'll start with exercise. I've been walking for about an hour every day for the past two weeks. This is very hard to do in Dhaka, thanks to crowded dusty streets. But somehow the reward is too tempting. So I'm sticking to it. I had fever for three days and couldn't go out, so I made up for it on the dance floor at Anna's b'day party Thu, and made up for that exhaustion by sleeping till 3pm. Well, you don't have to kill yourself to look good.
And now diet. Well, that's been in the works for last six months. I've eschewed ice-cream altogether, and cut off milk and sugar from my tea. I've also been eating home most evenings, therefore, having more control over my food.
I just noticed this exciting research that supports my theory. A University of Barcelona study published in Hepatology magazine states that beverages containing Fructose (corn syrup, sugar) is the culprit.
"In this study, rats receiving fructose-containing beverages presented a pathology similar to metabolic syndrome, which in the short term causes lipid accumulation (hypertriglyceridemia) and fatty liver, and at later stages hypertension, resistance to insulin, diabetes and obesity."
So there.
