Aren't we all tired of improving?

My home internet connection was down all week, so finally i called my ISP and got them to fix it last night. I usually download Bob and Sheri overnight, and listen to them every morning. It's four hours long, so I end up catching up on the first hour, and then listen to it before going to bed.
This morning I woke up to something that resonated with me. Their chatroom on friday was set up with Sheri saying this:
"If there's one thing other than American Idol that unifies american mainstream culture - it's self improvement. ... All we do is improve ourselves.
... Don't you just want to let go of all that effort and just live? And stop trying to be different or better?
... Are you tired of working on your marriage, working on your body, your career, your intelligence, your kids? Are you tired of worrying about improving things in your life?
... Have we ever lived a day when we are not trying to fix ourselves?
... you'll look back, and there's a life thrown away"
Man, could I ever relate to that.
