2006 was a year of firsts, as I said before. One of the firsts was celebrating Valentines Day.I've been dating (in loose sense of the word) since 1988, when I was 14. But I never celebrated Valentines Day before. Especially since 1993, when I moved to the US, I always found myself single on Valentines Day, the first day of spring on Bangla calendar. It's like Vivica Fox said on Two Can Play That Game,
"Have you noticed around spring men start to act up a bit? They do. They don't act up in the winter. They want that indoor activity. But as soon as the season breaks, they show their asses. It's true. It happens every year around spring, the breakup season. The time when women wear miniskirts and skimpy clothes... ... letting their stuff hang out, causing men to lose their mind.
Spring is when I have to counsel all my girlfriends... ... on how to keep their no-good, unable- to-say-no men in line. Amazing what a little warm weather can do. "
Anyways, this year, I got the surprise of my life. An ice-cream cake made of Hazelnut and Ferrero Rocher at midnight, pictured above. And lots of other goodies. I took three days off, and we stayed indoors and watched movies non-stop.
It was a good month.
