My comedic sensibility developed during the friday mornings I sat glued in front of TV, watching I Love Lucy on BTV. Can't remember how old I was, butto me, it always made sense that an adult would do anything to get the attention of her husband. I tried that in my earlier personal relationships, and failed miserably. Moving on.
"I love Lucy" made such an impression that my passwords, online alias, and everything else reflected that somehow. I was bored to death by Pretty Woman, until I saw Lucy in a vat crushing grapes.
In summer of '94, my brother-in-law took me to Universal Studios. The effect wasn't what he expected. Back to the Future ride? Yawn. Jaws tour? Yawn. Beetlejuice tour? Huh? But put me in front of I love Lucy memorabilia store? I was gone for hours!
From there, we went to Hollywood Walk of Fame. I walked around quickly and stood right behind the only star that mattered, before Andy Griffith and Marlene Dietrich, My Lucy. My sister took a picture of me, ecstatic and pointing to the floor.
I don't have the picture anymore. But nothing will erase the joy of me stepping on my idol's star.
